Is It Wednesday Yet?

New comics this week.

Definitely

  • Starborn #2 (Boom)
  • Birds of Prey #8 (DC)
  • Knight and Squire #4 (of 6) (DC)
  • Red Robin #19 (DC)
  • Casanova: Gula #1 (Icon)
Starborn was my favourite first issue out of the three new Stan Lee comics published by Boom. Neat concept, excellent Chris Roberson script, and nice art by Khary Randolph. Here's a preview.

I'm not very happy with the direction Red Robin has taken since Fabian Nicieza has taken over from Chris Yost, but it continues to feature the amazing art of Marcus To, so I'm giving it a chance and hoping it gets back on track. The current arc about the "Unternet" is kinda silly, but at least it provides To with an opportunity to come up with some alternate costumes.

Maybe
  • Batgirl #17 (DC)
  • Wonder Girl (one-shot) (DC)
  • Infinite Vacation #1 (Image)
Batgirl is not a title that I usually read, but Stephanie Brown has such a strong following on the internet that she's starting to win me over. This month's issue features really nice art by Pere Perez (based on this preview at least) and a team up with Damian Wayne, so I'm really tempted to jump on board.

I wasn't really interested in the Wonder Girl one-shot until I found out that it would feature Solstice, the new character created by J.T. Krul and introduced in Teen Titans. Out of curiosity, I'll probably give it a shot. Preview here.

Infinite Vacation is a new series written by Nick Spencer. I think his Morning Glories is hugely over-rated, but this looks like it's worth checking out. Concept sounds pretty trippy and Christian Ward's art looks good. Preview here.

I'm not picking it up, but you might be interested
  • Daredevil Reborn #1 (of 4) (Marvel)
This is a follow-up to the Shadowland: After the Fall one-shot, which was a follow-up to the Shadowland event, neither of which I read or paid any attention to. But if you've been following this or are a fan of the character, then you'll probably want to give this a try. By Anddy Diggle and Davide Gianfelice. Preview here.
